The therapist keeps his hand supported on the patient’s right shoulder blade then he performs a gliding motion with his left hand starting from the middle of the internal side of the shoulder blade all the way to the end of the deltoid muscle. In the first part of the motion, the thumb follows the contour of the shoulder blade, subsequently gliding over the shoulder and over the deltoid muscle. All the while, the palm and the fingers glide on the surface of the shoulder blade, the fingers eventually grabbing the latissimus dorsi muscle. There are ten repetitions.
This description presents the manner in which the procedure is performed on the left side of the patient. Similarly, the same steps are followed on the right side. In the standard version, the procedure is first performed on the left side and then on the right side.
